Evocative story that calls to mind a derivation of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Is pain worth the price of bearing it? An interesting question, artfully posed by Mr. Moody in this quick read.
The short story kindle "To Absent Friends" by Matt Moody is a very interesting and well written tale. Mr. Moody is a great storyteller and should have a bright future in storytelling. I wish him the best of success, but I doubt he'll need it, with tales that are this well crafted.
It's a good story and a quick read. Once you know where it's going, makes you curious about the choices that will be made. Good descriptive passages, great voice.

A well written short story. It is a nice first story by Matt Moody, now I am waiting for more.
In a short story, this tale reminds me of our choices in.life and how it is important to persevere. The story quickly develops the main character and involves you deeply into his reality.
I'm surprised that this is the first published work by Matt Moody and I hope it won't be the last. This is a well crafted story with fleshed out characters and settings that are painted with just the right amount of descriptive language. While I felt that the story could have been a bit longer, perhaps that was an intentional ploy to leave me wanting more. 'To Absent Friends' reminds me of the many short stories that Stephen King has churned out over the years... while it stops short of invoking the terror that the pages of a full novel can produce, it does take you to the edge of Creepytown and leaves you with a chill in your spine. Well done.
